ILPI Centre for African Studies (ILPI CAS) was established in 2013. ILPI CAS is an integral part of ILPI and it ties together ILPI’s broad engagement throughout Africa.
Our key focus areas are:
- Conflict analysis / tracking
- Peace and reconciliation
- Democratic governance
- Salafist Islam
- Foreign policy analysis
- Sexual and gender-based violence
The centre is currently involved in a broad set of activities within these fields, ranging from high-quality academic work to policy development and consultancies to support diplomatic interventions and risk analysis for international groups establishing companies in Africa.
The changes observed throughout the African continent and the potential for political and economic development creates the demand for more systematic analysis and understanding of the African context in general, and the idiosyncrasies of the 54 African states in particular informing nuanced processes of change and continuities.
