ILPI currently has a Human Rights Training Project in Angola. This is a cooperation between the Angolan Ministry of Justice and Human Rights and the Norwegian Embassy, with ILPI as the Embassy’s selected implementing partner. The stated aim of the project is to contribute to the development and consolidation of a human rights culture in Angola. This will be achieved though the provision of various human rights trainings for senior ministry staff and representatives of other key stakeholders to the human rights situation in Angola, including civil society, institutions of higher education, the Bar Association, the Judges Association, trade unions, employers organizations etc. Trainings will be hosted both in Norway and Angola. A key ambition of the project is also to develop capacity at the university level in Angola to teach human rights at Bachelor and Master level.
Through the different project components, ILPI will provide knowledge, skills and information about international and regional human rights standards and norms. In addition, cooperation is established with Universidade Agostinho Neto with the long-term intention of developing human rights diploma and master degree courses in Angola.
