ILPI works with a problem solving approach, where research and analysis is the starting point. This forms the basis for policy formulation and the generation of new solutions. We also offer implementation support, evaluation services and training courses.
Comprehensive research and analysis forms the basis of our work. We provide research and analysis of legal frameworks, interpretation of legal sources, juridical briefs, mapping and monitoring of democratic trends, governance structures and reforms, and research on challenges to multiethnic democracy, causes of conflict and possible solutions.
We provide policy advice and formulation, and facilitate problem-solving processes. We have experience in formulating policy on aid implementation and coherence, efficiency and governance policies, developing models for transitional justice, and generating alternative solutions for governance structures in unstable societies.
We work to implement international norms on a national level, building on our country knowledge and expertise in comparative and international law. Our implementation support includes providing human rights protection in fragile states, justice sector reform, legal reform to comply with international human rights obligations, technical support to peace and reconciliation processes, mediation and peace agreements.
We provide assistance to clients in the evaluation of the effectiveness of implemented projects. Our services include interpretation and evaluation of legal regimes, juridical briefs, aid effectiveness evaluation, evaluation of peace, reconciliation and transitional justice projects, and evaluation of disarmament treaty implementation.
We offer a variety of training products ranging from long-term technical training courses to short-term workshops and presentations. We have experience from developing training materials and curricula that include the use of creative communication methods and multi-media tools.
