Lena Eskeland has extensive operational experience through almost two decades in international organisations and NGOs, in a variety of countries affected by conflict or disaster across the world. She also spent several years in Geneva, including with the Legal Division of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC). In addition to her operational work, Eskeland has a strong communication and policy background, and has spent significant time working with governments and civil society partners to develop policy and support multilateral processes related to various legal frameworks. She has conducted various assessments and reviews in the humanitarian and development sectors, internally for the ICRC, and more recently at ILPI for external clients in the Middle East.
Eskeland holds a Master of International Affairs from Columbia University concentrating on human rights and security policy. Recently she also completed a Master of Laws that focused on corporate social responsibility and children’s rights.
