Nav Øyslebø Purewall joined ILPI in late August 2013. She was previously based in Maputo, Mozambique (2009-2013) where she provided human rights advisory services on a consultancy basis to Mozambique’s Technical Secretariat for Food Security and Nutrition (SETSAN), the Norwegian Embassy (to Mozambique and Swaziland) and several NGOs. During this time she also worked as a consultant to promote human rights-based approaches to programming with various UN agencies including the UN Development Programme (UNDP), the UN Development Group (UNDG) and the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO).
Formerly, Purewall worked with the UNDP’s Oslo Governance Centre (OGC), the OSCE’s Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (ODIHR) in Warsaw, and with Aboriginal Affairs and Northern Development Canada. She holds an MSc in Human Rights from the London School of Economics with a focus on human rights and development in Sub-Saharan Africa, and a BA in Political Science from Simon Fraser University (SFU).
