Tainá Garcia Maia is currently a student in the master’s programme Theory and Practice of Human Rights at the University of Oslo. She holds a Bachelor of Law degree, with a minor in history, from the Federal University of Minas Gerais (UFMG), in Brazil.
Tainá has conducted research on public international law and human rights law. She was a junior researcher and a teaching assistant at UFMG and has published mainly on human rights law. Furthermore, she has interned in different organisations and institutions in different countries, including the French Red Cross (France), the Office of Public Defenders of the State of Minas Gerais (Brazil) and the Permanent Mission of Brazil to the United Nations (United States of America). In New York, her main task was to assist the Brazilian Mission in the Sixth Committee (Legal Committee) of the General Assembly of the UN, at its 70th Session.
