Aim of the project

Funded by DFID ILPI is delivering support to Audit Service Sierra Leone (ASSL) in partnership with BDO. The expected impact of this project is greater accountability for the efficient use of public money in Sierra Leone to achieve the aim of poverty reduction and inclusive growth. The expected outcome is more effective, comprehensive and timely audit of public finances that helps the public hold the government to account for its finances.

Deliverables & time frame

The outputs from the intervention are expected to be:

  • Improved audit standards and methodology, evidenced by a higher proportion of qualified auditors that effectively apply an international standard audit manual and maintain adequate audit files.
  • Improved planning, management and oversight of the audit process with more audits conducted on time, greater awareness of the cost of auditing, fewer middle management vacancies and stronger quality control on audit opinions.
  • Improved support services and infrastructure that allow auditors to carry out their jobs effectively with adequate oversight.
